CBJ are ahead in this one. Very nice for them the next 2 years, will pay the piper after that.

If we had competent mgt they would have paid Saad in the first place and we would have had both players. You have to wonder at what Bowman, if he's still here, will give up to get Panarin back next year after Panarin signs a new contract. It all goes back to the deal mgt made with the devil in order to hire Scotty Bowman and we are now paying the price of the incompetence of the current gm in having to constantly have our team run for the benefit of The First Church Of The Salary Cap at the continuing expense of the on ice product . Wake up ownership!

Trading Hammer..... Ridiculous but typical that the discussion on this board is that the other team gave up two absolutely can't miss all-stars for Hammer.

If they paid Saad in the first place, where would they have found the money to pay Panarin his bonuses?

Saad was going to get multiple offer sheets, so Stan was just trying to get as much value as he could. Dano was a bust, but Anisimov centered one of the best scoring lines in Hockey the past two years and made Panarin's transition to the NHL a lot smoother than if it was just that 4th liner from Russia who's name I can't even remember right now. Everybody loves the idea of launching Anisimov right now, but he was one of the only guys who was consistently in front of the net doing the dirty work.

Toews has his LW. Kane can carry any line. And we have our backup. I'm liking it.

We will see who wins the trade in the next couple of years but...

Saad is younger, a better all around player, a power forward and his contract certainty is way better. In my view Hawks win the trade as they got what they needed and if the goalie turn out to be what they expect all the better.

I don't mind the Panarin for saad move (and I have Panarin in a keeper league, so not happy there....).

But the Hammer move, not liking nearly as much!!! Really liked Hammer, and Murphy is not half the player Hammer is....

Murphy is a third pairing defenseman (and just barely that) from a bad team. He may fit in as a second pairing guy in Rockford if he works hard enough.

Murphy will make you wish for the good old days of Rundblad and Dale Tallon as GM.

Bowman still has the fire coach Q card in his pocket. This team isn't better and is still in cap hell.

Both trades are a win for the hawks. Sadd is the better overall player, hands down. Trading hammer I know hurts this year, but he is slowly creeping over 30 and only had him for what 2 more years before we could not afford him? I know everyone is saying we got worse. But i think we are better. I don't think stan is done. Everyone needs to relax and let him do his job. Because we were not hired to do his because we are not qualified. It is easy to sit on the sidelines and critque all the moves after they are done and say I would have done that or this, or that was a bad trade, without being behind the scenes and now the history or what teams are offering. To steal from and extreme album there are 3 sides of the story. Yours, mine, and the truth. With kane and toews, I believe the hawks will win at least 1 more cup. 4 cups? That my folks is worth all the moves they have made over the past decade. I would not trade those memories in a heartbeat.
